My baby turns two tomorrow. It's cliche, but I really can't believe she can be two already. I have to say, she's like her mommy . . . the girl gets excited for a birthday! We celebrated her birthday on Saturday with a party in Chillicothe (party is used loosely here since it was just the four of us, Grandma and Grandpa Owens, and Great-Grandma Smith). We started telling Sophia we were having the party sometime last week, and she took the idea and ran with it. Everyday Sophia would question me about what would be at the party. We'd go through our list: balloons, stickers, cake, presents, everyone who would be there including Maggie and Colby, my parents' dogs. It was fun to see her get so excited. Sophia's enthusiasm for birthdays was catching. Grant decided that we should have a birthday party for him, too! (So yes, we sang Happy Birthday to him too!)
Sophia loves Mickey Mouse, so the kids wore their Mickey Mouse shirts to the party. Grandma ordered a Mickey Mouse ice cream cake and balloons, and we got Mickey party supplies. The night before the party, Sophia announced, "Hey everybody! It's party time!" Sophia got a kick out of everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to her--so much so that she had us sing it about a dozen times. What the birthday girl wants, the birthday girl gets.
Here is the birthday girl lying on her tummy on the dining room table eating her second piece of ice cream cake.
My girl loves to get presents. Funny thing was that she kept calling them her "parties". She would say, "Where's my other party?"
Sophia's favorite gift of the day was the Dora couch Grandma and Grandpa gave her. It folds out into a little bed. She loves it! In the picture above, Grant and Sophia are having what they called a "tea party" with their new Disney cups.
