Celebrating Christmas . . .

A few snapshots from our Christmas festivities . . .

Sophia had a little party at her school. The kids exchanged books with one another, decorated ice cream cones to look like Christmas trees, and sang Christmas carols to parents and a group of senior adults from the church. The carolling was adorable. Sophia sang with her back to the audience, but sounded great.

The Sunday before Christmas we went to Grandma and Grandpa Ferguson's house to spend time together, enjoy a great Christmas meal and exchange gifts. Sophia and Grant each painted a canvas to give to Grandma and Grandpa. They were quite proud of themselves.

Grant gave his canvas to Grandpa. You have no idea how much concentration Grant put into creating these circles just so. He was very proud of his masterpiece.

Aunt Ann gave the kids the game "Elefun". A little elephant shoots butterflies up into the air and the kids catch them with the nets. It was quite a hit.

What creative children we have.

Christmas morning . . . Sophia has the surprised face down. She's great at ripping open a present, acting super surprised for a moment, tossing it aside, and asking for another. She's not selfish . . . just two.

Grant is a bit more thoughtful in his present opening. He tends to study his gift a bit more before moving on. Sometime around Thanksgiving Grant decided that the gift he really wanted for Christmas was a cash register. He talked and talked about the cash register. The very last gift he opened was, lo and behold, a cash register. While we don't really go all out with the whole Santa story, I did ask Grant if he was exited that Santa brought him a cash register. He looked at me with a very serious face, "This isn't from Santa. It's from Toys R Us." Forever the literalist, he has very little patience for pretending.
