This is the life!

What a wonderful week we have had. The weather has been warm, and Travis has been on Spring Break all week. It was for weeks like this that Travis left practicing law to be a teacher. We have had beautiful weather all week and Travis has been home to enjoy it with us. Now, I'll be honest, I did have to work for my job more than usual this week, so it wasn't all fun and games. It was great none the less and the kids got lots of time with Daddy. Some highlights . . .

Grant and Sophia got to spend a night with their Aunt Misty and Uncle Brandon, which they loved. This also meant that Sheryl and Travis got some alone time, which we loved! Since the weather was so great, we decided to take our date night walking around the Plaza. Window shopping is fun . . . not quite as fun as shopping with money, but still fun.

Grant got his picture taken at school. Some of you know that for about the last two years, for whatever reason, Grant has decided that he would rather not have his picture taken by professionals. While we do take plenty of candids at home, I like to have a professional one for the wall. The stars were aligned just right on Tuesday and Grant agreed to have his picture taken at school picture day. When he came home he told me that he had smiled big and said cheese. We can't wait to see how they turned out.

Grant and Sophia got their first treat ever from the Ice Cream Truck. This might have been more exciting for me than for them.

We (Travis) got a lot of chores done . . . laundry, taxes, new tires on the van, major cleaning of the van, lowered Sophia crib (yes, my tiny baby is big enough now to need her crib lowered to the lowest level!) . . . what a man!

We all got to spend a night at Grandma and Grandpa Owens's house. Travis fried a turkey for us . . . if you've never had turkey cooked in a frier, you need to try it. Grant got to go to Hy-Vee--a trip to Chillicothe is not complete for Grant unless he goes to the grocery store. Sophia learned to get to the standing position without pulling up on anything.

All this and we still have the weekend to go!

Ahh the simple things in life. Parenthood is a great reminder of how great those "little" things can be. Sounds like a terrific week. Way to go Sophia on standing up! And whoo hoo for Grant on smiling big for the camera. (No matter how it looks, I say you get the biggest print and hang it with pride.) :)
