Baby, It's Cold Outside . . .

It's cold, and we don't like it. Actually, it's not really the cold that bothers us, it the being trapped inside that bothers us. I am particularly prone to experiencing cabin fever, and I'm afraid that it's contagious. The positive side is that it's Thursday and the first day of the week that Travis has had to go to school. If only there were a way for Travis to get snow days without it being so cold outside.

I really shouldn't complain. Mom told me today that my aunt and uncle in Springfield, MO have been without power since Monday. Having a case of cabin fever is one thing, having cabin fever and no electricity is a whole different story. Truth be told, we have even done a few fun things over the last few days.

Travis has been working diligently on making DVD back-ups of all of our home videos. We learned a hard lesson about needing extra copies a while back--let's just say don't ask to see videos of Grant as a brand new baby . . .it's a sore spot. (Brandon and Misty, we have been promising you videos for a long time . . . who knows? We might some done soon!) The other night we were watching some videos from the first month of Sophia's life. It was fun to watch the kids' reactions to seeing themselves on video. In the video Grant looked pretty much the same as he does now, just smaller, so Sophia could recognize him. She didn't understand that the baby was herself and was frustrated that Grant got to be "in" the television but she didn't. We watched a scene of my mom holding tiny Sophia. Big-girl Sophia got a bit jealous and was frustrated that Grandma wouldn't get out of the TV to play with her.

I will be a bit cliche and admit that watching the videos really reminded us how fast they are growing up. It also reminded us that we need to be a little more creative when we video the kids. Travis noticed that we have two years worth of video of us say, "Grant, can you sing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star?", "Grant, can you sing Go Tell It On the Mountain?", and more recently, "Sophia, can you sing Jesus Loves Me?"

I thought I'd share this funny picture of Grant. A couple of weeks ago, we picked up a bucket of KFC on the way home from church. We ate in the lobby of Melrose while we watched the Chiefs game. After we finished eating we moved into our apartment, but left the chicken on the coffee table. Later, Travis found Grant in the lobby half dressed, watching football, and eating chicken straight from the bucket. What a boy.

Sophia loves her Little People. She is great at entertaining herself with them. she usually calls the people "my boys". Last time she spent the night with my mom, Sophia told Grandma that she needed to take a bath with her boys.
